Overview

Finished in 1973, Disney World entertains millions of guests every year with their rides, attractions, characters, restaurants and so much more.

Disney World is located in Lake Buena Vista Florida and is the number one tourist attraction in the world! Because of the land restrictions of California's Disneyland, Walt Disney chose Florida, and purchased 45,000 acres! As the parks and attractions were built, careful attention was given so no outside areas, other than Disney World, would be seen!

Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are the four theme parks while Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are Disney's take on water parks! Every area has their own theme with regards to rides, attractions and landscaping.

Cinderellas Castle

The Magic Kingdom was the main vision of the park, and with its new expansion to Fantasyland, it still holds true. Opened in 1971, the park has an annual attendance of over 15 million people. There are daily parades down Main Street, as well as having a nightly fireworks display that changes throughout the year. Cinderella's Castle is the central hub for the six themed lands of the park, and is said to be the most photographed object in the world.

SPaceship Earth
Epcot was Walt Disney’s dream to bring a futuristic community to the heart of Disney World. The dream never transpired, but what was left was a land built on science and technology called Future World. With many attractions and hand on experiments, this area is a marvel of scientific wonderment.

In the back of Epcot is the World Showcase which houses 11 different countries from around the World. Built around the World Showcase Lagoon, each pavilion shows how the society in that land lives, as well as architectural replicas and designs from that country.

Dart vader Star Tours

Hollywood Studios became a reality when Michael Eisner became the CEO of Disney in 1985. Costing more than $500 million dollars, Hollywood Studios invites you into the land of movie making and state of the art attractions!

The studio itself was envisioned to be a half-day attraction, but Disney soon realized they had a hit on there hands. Imagineers researched the history behind Hollywood, and laid out many of the historical references within the park. Graumans Chinese Theater was built using the original blueprints from the 1927 building. Hollywood props and movie memorabilia are placed everywhere within the park.

Disney Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is the fourth, and newest park. Taking over 5 years to build, the park holds some of the largest assortment of zoological animals ever assembled for a theme park. Because of the space available to the animals, and the way Disney designed the land, many of the attractions have no visible signs of animal barriers!

What theme park would be complete without a water park! Disney World not only has one, but two water parks filled with the latest in attractions and rides! Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and became an instant hit. As the years went by, Disney realized that a second water park was needed. Blizzard Beach eventually opened to the public, six years later, in 1995.

Every year there are new and exciting additions to Disney World. With the recent addition to Fantasyland as well as the announcement of Avatar Land.

Disney World will always be " The Most Magical Place on Earth"!
