Magic Kingdom - Overview and Highlights

Cinderllas Castle

Disney World's Magic Kingdom theme park, is everyones choice for attractions, rides and Disney characters! The Magic Kingdom park was built in 1973 and was one of Walt Disney’s last projects. He passed away before the completion, however his brother Roy Disney headed the project at that point, eventually making it the number one vacation resort  in the world!

The area is made up of seven theme lands arranged in a hub-and-spoke system. As you enter the park, you will immediately be in Main Street USA, a recreation of a small mid-American town, full of shops and restaurants.  Disney characters often find their way here to greet and meet guests as they walk the promenade.

Gastons Tavern

Adventureland will whisk you away to the adventurous times of yesteryear to a Caribbean Village and an Arabian marketplace. Featured in is this area is the Swiss Family Treehouse, a 6 story home built into a giant Banyan tree. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a child’s delight as they ride on a spinning carpet while Pirates of the Caribbean continues in being one of the top attractions at Disney World.

Fantasyland is for the child in all of us, with its whimsical settings and storybook attractions. This area is filled with history from Disney’s past and includes Cinderella’s Castle, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, It’s a small world, the Mad Tea Party, Mickey's PhilharMagic, Peter Pan's Flight, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Still under construction is The New Fantasyland where two new lands have been built, Enchanted Forest and Storybook Circus.

Disney Secrets : Chewing gum is not allowed to be sold in any Disney theme park worldwide!

Go back to the old west in Frontierland as you ride a runaway train at Big Thunder Mountain, or plummet 50 feet down a water-flume ride at Splash Mountain. Tom Sawyers Island lies across the Rivers of America, and is a giant playground waiting for the kids to explore!

Walt DIsney World Railroad

Liberty Square will bring you back to the early 1700’s, and features the Liberty Square Riverboat, an old-fashioned Mississippi paddle wheeler, The Hall of Presidents where you will meet every US President, and the The Haunted Mansion, home to the happy haunts of 999 ghosts!

Blast off to the future in Tomorrowland with visits from Buzz Light-year at Buzz Light-year’s Space Ranger Spin, and Mike from Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. Other attractions in this area includes Astro Orbiter, Carousel of Progress, Space Mountain, Stitch's Great Escape!, Tomorrowland Speedway and Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

The Magic Kingdom attractions are constantly being updated as well as new ones being constructed. This is one of the many reasons that visitors come back over and over again. The park typically opens every day from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM although on special days the park opens early or stays open late.

There are Extra Magic Hours available for all 4 theme parks, for those who stay in a Disney World resort. The guests are able to enter the parks usually an hour earlier depending on which day of the week is assigned to that particular park. This beats out the crowds that line up to enter the park every day. There are also Extra Magic Hours available for times after the park closes.

Whether it’s sailing through a land of pirates, or blasting off on an indoor roller coaster, you and your family will love the Magic Kindom's rides and attractions!

Disney Magic : The garbage cans in certain areas of the Magic Kingdom are emptied by an Automated Vacuum Assisted Collection System (AVAC). The trash is actually sucked down from the trash containers to a centrally located disposal area. This is why you never see anyone emptying the trash cans on Main Street.
