Hollywood Studios - Overview and Highlights

Opening on May 1, 1989 Hollywood Studios is a 135 acre theme park, drawing inspiration from the height of Hollywood in the 1930s and 1940s. As the Magic kingdom is represented by Cinderella's Castle, the Sorcerer's Hat is Hollywood Studios icon which is a stylized version of the magical hat from Fantasia.

New for 2014 is a variety of attractions featuring the stars of the hit animated movie "Frozen"! Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf star in numerous shows appearing at Sound Stage One, Premier Theatre and other locations. Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome is a daily parade featuring the stars from Frozen in a musical tribute that extends down Hollywood Boulevard to the Sorcerers Hat

WDW Insider: The Sorcerer's Hat replaced the Earful Tower as the park's icon in 2001.

Highlights of Disney's Hollywood Studios include the Tower of Terror, which features a 13-story plummet into a void of a haunted hotel.

"Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage", is located on Sunset Boulevard and features a Broadway-style musical production based on the hit Disney famous movie, of the same name.

"Rock 'N' Roller Coaster - Starring Aerosmith" is a roller coaster that transports you through a series of twists and turns while playing Aerosmith music.

Echo Lake boasts three attractions as "Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular" educates the audience on Hollywood stuntman as behind the scenes action are   re-produced in a giant amphitheater from the Indiana  Jones movie!

Near Echo Lake is "Star Tours", an intergalactic 4D adventure. Strap in as you blast off on this adventure that puts in in the far corners of the galaxy.

"American Idol" has audience members auditioning their vocal talents and a chance for a "Dream Ticket" to the American Idol auditions!

 At Animation Courtyard "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" presents a live show that showcases the story of Ariel and her undersea friends by using puppets and live actors. A favorite of children, this attraction has been playing for years.

The Great Movie Ride

At the end Hollywood Boulevard  is the "Great Movie Ride", an exciting tour through the history of American film with animatronics and movie clips from classic films. Streets of America presents

 "Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show" which promises high-octane thrills for all ages! Stunt cars perform outrageous stunts as the directors explain the dynamics and technology used in the film industry.
