Disney Cruise Line - Overview

Disney Cruise line is the cruise line of choice when thinking of a family cruise. Disney cruise ships include the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and its newest ship, Disney Fantasy.

Disney Cruise Packages

Disney Cruise Packages include room, meals and most shipboard activities. Shore excursions are plentiful, but these are at an additional cost to the guests. Prices vary greatly, depending on the size of the room, the destination, the time of year, and the length of the cruise.

Rooms are always plentiful on a cruise, however getting the room you want takes some careful planing. If you wait too late, the cabin you want may be gone. On the other hand... if you wait just a few weeks before the cruise date, you may get an unfilled cabin at a great price!

That being said, cruisers will usually get good deals if you book far in advance or take advantage of specials that many cruise lines use to fill the ship for last minute travelers.

Disney Stateroom

Disney Staterooms

Disney Magic and the Disney Dream have rooms ranging from 184 sq. ft. to 1,029 sq. ft.. while the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy offer accommodations from 169 sq., ft. to an enormous 1,781 sq., ft.. Rooms range from inside staterooms to deluxe family verandahs as well as suites with whirlpool tubs.

Just like her sister ship the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy will feature "Magical Portholes", offering inside stateroom guests a "window" that show the outside of the ship. Thius is done by having cameras on the outside of the ship. The porthole picture actually corresponds to the location of the stateroom. Along with the view, Disney characters make surprise visits, looking in on guests!

Adult and Children's Activities

The heart of the Disney cruise experience is the kids’ and teens programs. Staffed by dozens of Disney-trained counselors, the programs cater to kids from age 3 months to 17 years, with supervised activities available from early morning till midnight.

Nightly entertainment includes lavish shows along with Broadway caliber variety acts. Many of these shows are geared for the adults while children shows and entertainment are throughout the ship. There is actually one deck on every ship that is only for children. Once dropped off, parents can pick up special on-board mobile phone where they can keep in touch with the activity directors to check up on the kids.

Guests with Disabilities

The ship was made to accommodate disabled individuals with special ramps, rooms, handrails, and shower seats to name a few. Listening devices are available on every ship.

Disney Cruise Line Restaurants

The dining experience aboard Disney’s ships is bar none! Dining at night is different as guests are automatically rotated into a different restaurant every night. This breaks up the monotony of going to the same restaurant every night! The waiter that is assigned to your table the first night, will follow you throughout the cruise.

Specialty restaurants may require reservations as well as an additional fee, however many of the restaurants serve top shelf food and have a theme. Dining options include quick service, casual dining or buffet dining, main dining and adult-exclusive dining.

Shore Excursions

On shore activities are numerousl in any port. Disney has an assortment of on-land excursions depending on your wants and needs. The internet is a great place to research what attractions and history is in your ports of call!

Cataway Cay

Castaway Cay

Disney Cruise Line also owns Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas designed as an exclusive port of call for Disney's ships. In a setting of crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white-sand beaches and lush landscapes, the 1,000-acre island offers one-of-a-kind areas and activities for every member of the family.
